The National Assessment of the Health Extension Program, conducted by MERQ, took the center of discussions on ARM 2019

The 21st Health Sector Annual Review Meeting (ARM2019), with the theme “Multisectoral Collaboration for Healthy and Prosperous Nation”, underwent from October 15-18, 2019 at the SkyLight Hotel, Addis Ababa. The review meeting was organized by the Ministry of Health and Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau. The review meeting was officially opened by Eng. Takele Uma, mayor of Addis Ababa, followed by key remarks by Dr. Amir Aman, Minister of Health.

In the Annual Review Meeting (ARM), MERQ participated in two major undertakings: poster presentation and group discussion. The MERQ team presented the over view, methods, quality assurance and stakeholders engagement approaches employed for the National Assessment of the Health Extension Program Assessment in four posters. The posters aim in creating a good understanding of the assessment among visitors and invitation to the group discussions on HEP and Community Engagement.

The National Health Extension Program (HEP) Assessment was one of the parallel group discussion sessions for two days (October 16-17, 2019). The first day was dedicated for the presentation of HEP assessment findings, followed by group discussion on the recommendations. The second day was allotted for the Community Engagement options for Health Extension Program. The MERQ team presented the findings and recommendations pertaining to community engagement, along with two other presentations on the same topic. A half day was assigned for group discussion on different technical areas of community engagement.

The poster presentation and the two days group sessions at ARM2019 attracted different stakeholders of HEP and PHC, from health extension workers to implementing partners and international donors.
