| Project summary | Ethiopia Tracer Study – Data Collection (2025)
MERQ conducted a comprehensive data collection for the ILO-PROSPECTS program in Ethiopia’s Somali and Amhara regions. This effort involved engaging 616 survey participants and facilitating more than 100 participants in 16 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) from both refugee and host communities. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating structured surveys, FGDs, and case studies to gather a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data. This methodology allowed for a nuanced understanding of critical areas, including: Livelihoods and employment, evaluating the availability and utilization of financial resources, assessing the involvement of young people in economic and social activities, understanding the dynamics between refugee and host communities, and identifying factors that promote or hinder social integration. The findings from this study provide evidence-based guidance aimed at strengthening economic inclusion and enhancing community resilience. In addition, it will provide strategic recommendations to support forcibly displaced persons and their host communities, fostering a more inclusive environment for all.
